Early Literacy
Calgary Reads is an early learning initiative changing the lives of struggling grade one and two readers, and their families, in Calgary and area schools.
Literacy is a fundamental life skill. Increased literacy levels improve an individual's self-esteem, academic achievement, career and parenting success. In other words, it results in increased quality of life.
A critical key to reading success is ensuring every child has access to beautifully written books with enticing illustrations. By working with Calgary Reads, I am able to give my words for books to children. There is nothing more rewarding to me as a writer than being able to share my love of stories with Calgary Reads.
